-----29 years ago today a private plane crashed carrying members of the legendary southern rock band lynyrd skynyrd

we lost several members of the greatest band ever put together that tragic sunday morning however theirmusic and legend lives on today

One of the best of all time. Ronnie Van Zandt had "it".

Funny story, just last week I went to an acoustic show by a guy named Martin Sexton, very talented in his own right.He has an amazing voice, but also has the ability to make his voice sound like a guitar. Anyway, about half way through the show people started shouting out requests which apparantly happens at his shows. He doesn't seem to particularly care for the shoutouts and would purposely avoid the requests. One slightly off kilter fellow shouts out "Free Bird" to try and add a little humor, it was as if Maritn was just waiting for the moment to unleash his own acoustic version. It started out as humorous, but then he went into this amazing rendition that started out as fun and ended with the crowd giving him a standing ovation. Just reminded me what a timeless amazing talent Ronnie Van Zandt and the boys were. RIP fella's!!!!!

This band was just starting out basically...they sure did get a lot of mileage out of a relatively short time at the top before tragedy struck....how many times have you heard Sweet Home Alabama and subconsciously 'Turned it up'
